Graduate School: University Of Southern California Tuition Fundraising
Hello, my name is Daric Cottingham. I am a first-generation college student. While in undergrad I was independent and paid for college with financial aid and out of pocket by working numerous jobs; I will be graduating from the illustrious Prairie View A&M University on May 11th with a B.A. in Mass Communications. I decided to continue my education, and I applied to the top journalism program in the United States to pursue an M.A. in Journalism at the University of Southern California Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism.
I am the first student from my HBCU to be accepted into this Master’s program at USC. I want to be able to open doors and opportunities to others like me who don’t come from great financial backgrounds but work hard and are qualified, and deserving of opportunities like this. I chose journalism because no one's story should go unheard as you never know what someone is going through and how that story can impact others.
I have been awarded a partial scholarship and have taken out the max loans ($62,375) I qualify for to pay towards the total $94,970 cost of attendance.
The masters program is a 9-month program starting in July - May 2020.
Thank you to anyone that decides to donate, or share my story.
